Name: KATIE KIBBY

Pos: pitcher

High School: Vacaville (Calif.)

Club: Sorcerer – Schroll

Notable: 1st Team All-MEL Conference as a freshman

College: UC Davis

Why UC Davis? Says her father, Tom: “When we started the recruiting process everything was wide open.  It was difficult trying to fit in visits outside of California with the busy schedule but we did squeeze in a real nice visit to University of Utah.  After further discussions she decided she wanted to stay in CA so we started visiting schools like UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, UC Davis, etc…  Education was a big priority for her but she hasn’t decided what she wants to major in so we wanted to make sure the school was large enough to have plenty of options. During her visit to UC Davis she really liked Coach Yoder and the campus.  UC Davis offers a great education and great location and she is really excited to play softball at UC Davis.”

Why she’s Hot 100 material:

  • ace pitcher on the No. 19 rated high school team in the latest FAB 50 rankings
  • dominant in the circle with a 23-0 record, 14 shutouts, 200 strikeouts and a 0.59 ERA
  • win total makes her No. 1 in California for sophomores and No. 2 for all classes
  • win total ranks her No. 4 nationally for sophomores
  • ERA puts her at No. 2 in California for sophomores and No. 15 for all classes
  • ERA puts her No. 11 nationally for sophomores
  • led her Sorcerer 14U team to a 3rd place finish at PGF Nationals last summer
  • attended prestigious OnDeck Softball’s National Elite Futures Camp (Oct. 2013)
  • says her Sorcerer club coach, William Schroll: “I think she will be pretty dominating this summer at the 16 level. Could have easily played Gold anywhere in NorCal but chose to stay with us this summer.”
