Funniest thing on a softball field (3/26)

We recently reached out to softball players across the country to ask them a series of questions including this one:
What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen happen on the softball field?
Below are a few of the responses.
We’d also like to share YOUR experiences… if you’re a player, coach, parent or simply a softball fan, tell us what’s you’ve seen on the field that had you cracking up and we’ll use on our site! E-mail: brentt@studentsports.com

The funniest thing that I’ve seen was when my friend dove into the bag at second and didn’t make it all the way there.

The funniest thing I have ever seen on the field was when my teammate was stealing third and was stuck in a pickle, but the third baseman tagged her base as if it was a force and walked off the field. Then my teammate stole third.

Not so much what I have seen, but what I have heard while catching. Girls talking to themselves while batting, or even the blue’s saying stuff under their breath. I guess with the helmet on they think I can’t hear good. Oh, I can hear everything.

The funniest thing that ever happened to me was in my first 14U tournament. I was playing first base and the ball was hit to the third baseman. It was a routine play, so I went to cover my base, but instead of turning and running I backpedaled. As soon as I did that I tripped over first base and the ball flew over my head. It was so embarrassing, but I gave everyone a good laugh that day.

The funniest thing I saw on the field was a girl tripping over her own feet while trying to make a double play. Needless to say the runner was safe.
