Hot 100 Seniors (#90-81)

We continue our look at the top 100 players in the 2014 class… we’re spotlighting 10 each day for the next two weeks in the countdown from 100 to No. 1. The seniors were chosen based on input and feedback from college and club coaches. Criteria for choosing and ranking the players including performances at the club and high school levels and projecting how they will play at the collegiate level.

Today we feature players No. 90 to 81 with standout players from Alabama, Arkansas, California, Illinois, Maryland, Oklahoma, Texas…

Check out more of 2014's HOT 100: 100-91

#90... Angie Vasquez (IF/OF, Explosion)--LMU
Angie is a power hitter who leads off and has a great work ethic--she can never get enough swings or ground balls. She plays at a high energy level at all times and will play any position you ask. The SoCal standout plays primarily third and outfield and reminds some of Kelly Montalvo from Alabama as she's five-feet tall.
#89... Gracie Bogle (P, Tulsa Elite)--Arkansas
Gracie is a 6-foot-3 flame-thrower who has been clocked as high as 67 mph to go along with her good change-up. A track standout who has gone to state in the discus, she has a super high ceiling and carries a 4.0 GPA. From Springdale, Ark., she will stay instate to play at the next level.
#88... Lea Wodach (C/OF, Corona Angels)--Oklahoma
Lea has a great arm as a catcher, but has been a leadoff hitter so you know she can run. She has a strong knowledge of the game and is a leader on the field. Ironically, she was catching on the California Cruisers this summer which fell in the Champion's Cup to her current team, the Corona Angels.
#87... Julia DePonte (MIF, Sorcerer Gold)--Washington
Julia is a smooth-fielding infielder with sure hands but has surprising pop in her bat and can go to either field well. She's one of the leaders for the talent-laden Sorcerer team and, hailing from Vacaville, Calif., is athletic enough to have been an all-state candidate in basketball. She missed the 2013 high school year with a knee injury but is back on the field now.
#86... Jess Cummings (P, Vienna Stars)--Penn State
Jess is a two-time Gatorade Maryland State Player of the Year and put up spectacular numbers in 2013 in the circle with a 22-0 record, 0.00 ERA and 298 strikeouts in 135 innings holding opponents to a .041 batting average. The righty pitcher has good velocity and movement on her throws.
#85... Sydney Benz (IF), Beverly Bandits)--Louisville
Sydney plays shortstop for her Chicago area high school and third base for the Bandits because she's an excellent fielder with good hands and mechanics. Possessing a great work ethic, she got better and better as the season went on, hitting a two-run home run and grand slam in playoff wins.

#84... Lindsey Chalmers (P, Sorcerer Gold)--Cal Poly
Lindsey is a tall, smooth-throwing pitcher with good mechanics and is difficult to hit. She went toe-to-toe against the So Cal A's the week before the PGF Nationals striking out eight with only two hits allowed in a 0-0 tie. She was also the ace for the No. 35 ranked high school team in the country, San Ramon (Calif.) High, which went 21-5 against strong competition.
#83... Kelsey Arnold (3B/OF, Wichita Mustangs)--Oklahoma
Kelsey plays third primarily and has perhaps the fastest hands of any infielder on this list. She has good power in the bat and, playing high school ball right now, she's somewhat under the radar but the Sooners know what they're getting. The Tulsa, Okla. star is expected to make major waves in the spring and summer as she plays for the Mustangs in major national tournaments.
#82... Demi Turner (MIF, Impact Gold-Texas)--Alabama
The prototypical speedy lefty leadoff hitter, Demi can bunt or pull the bat back and spray anywhere on the field. A leader and spark of offense, she's also an outstanding middle infielder and has honed her fast-twitch muscles playing on her Huntsville, Texas basketball team.

#81... Morgan Reed (SS/2B, Birmingham Thunderbolts)--Notre Dame
Morgan was primarily a pitcher when younger, but her future looks bright at middle infield. She's an excellent defender and uses her athleticism as a lefty slapper to wreck havoc on defenses with her great bat control and power to drive into the gaps. She's with the Birmingham Bolts, based in her hometown of Birmingham, Ala., for her senior year of club ball.
