Sydney Supple from Oshkosh, Wisconsin is one of the top 2019 players in the country and last year committed to Northwestern when she was just 13 years old. The tall lefty, who is also a standout hitter, is a freshman at Oshkosh North High School and will play this next year on the Beverly Bandits-Conroy/Terrell 16U team that should be one of the best in the nation in its age division.

California, for many teams is home or an often destination. Being from, and playing on, a program from the Midwest you have usually only have one shot in California, and that is Nationals.
All year we use California as a motivation during practices, scrimmages, and games. Working and pushing to get to the highest level we can before we get our one shot at California. Along with my many quotes in my room, I have a picture of the state of California above my bed on my ceiling. I put it up there as a reminder for every time I open my eyes in the morning I see it. I ask myself what am I going to do each day to help me reach and accomplish my ultimate one goal in California.
I just recently flew back out there for the first time ever in the fall as part of the PGF Shootout. Going back to the fields and walking back through the parks is unreal with the memories that come along with one glance. Reliving memories that are as clear as day, and ones that will last a lifetime. Each field there holds a story, ones that have challenged me and ones that have shown some of the greatest moments I’ve ever had as a ball player. Each one good or tough formed me into the player and person I am today.

In the first-ever PGF Shootout, my team went 4-1 falling short of what we would’ve hoped to finish. But we had the opportunity to play great competition and help prepare us for next summer. What my Coach said to all of us after the last game is something I will hold onto for the upcoming months. He told us to hold onto this feeling of dissatisfaction, wanting nothing more than another game to compete in, and look around the ballpark. In nine months we will be standing side by side as a team again. It is up to us to write our own story and our own ending. What you do in these next nine months is up to you, and will all show the next time we step on these fields.
For me this is motivation in everything I do for the next three-quarters of my year. Whether it be in the workout room, on the field, or going and breaking down the game mentally. When I head back out there and look at the fields flashing back to all those memories. I will look back to when Coach gave us those words, and think about all my team and I have sacrificed sacrificed and worked for in those nine months. Smiling, I will step alongside my team and let all of the hard work show, as we compete for our Number 1 goal!
