Jersey Intensity 14U National Coach Giannina Cippolini boasts that 2019 shortstop, Madisyn Kennedy has the best glove, smoothest transition, and fastest hands in the south. “It’s unreal, the plays she makes," Coach Cippolini said. "She is a diamond in the rough. I’m shocked more schools haven’t been on her.”
Madisyn played the majority of the 2015 season at third base and second base because those were the positions she listed when she joined Intensity.
But that changed when the team got to Premier Girls Fastpitch and their shortstop struggled to make plays as the Arizona Suncats continued hitting ground ball after ground ball in her direction.
That's when Coach G and Coach Jordan made the decision to put Madisyn, the best glove on the team, at short.
“She TORE IT UP! She had some key hits off the fence during bracket play," Coach G said.
That standout performance caught the attention of Alabama, which invited her to visit campus.
“Amazing" was the one word Madisyn kept using to describe her unofficial trip to Tuscaloosa. “I loved the atmosphere…It seemed like they were all a family. It felt that way when I got there.” She is looking forward to more college visits, but admits she is extremely close with her family, and hopes to stay close to home in Montgomery, Alabama.
“I love the south so much. I think the south is where my heart is.”
