Donovan & Fronda Take Pac-12 Honors
SALT LAKE CITY - A pair of Utah Softball players were honored today by the Pac-12 as Katie Donovan was named Pitcher of the Week and Kay Kay Fronda was selected Player of the Week.

Donovan earned a pair of wins this past week against Weber State and No. 22 ASU. Last night, she also notched the save for the Utes in a 3-1 win over the Sun Devils. Her 1.90 ERA ranked second in the Pac-12 entering the weekend, with opponents batting .227 (4th). She also rates fourth in innings pitched and sixth in strikeouts.

Donovan was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week twice last season and this is her first Pitcher of the Week award. She becomes the first Utah pitcher since Sammy Cordova (May 5, 2014) to win this honor from the conference.

Fronda led the Utes in a number of categories this past week including hits (4), batting (.667), slugging (1.500), on-base percentage (.571), total bases (9) and home runs as the team improved to 26-13, 7-4 in the Pac-12.

She becomes Utah’s first Player of the Week this season. Junior second baseman Hannah Flippen was a two-time winner of the award last season.
Donovan and Fronda join freshman Ally Dickman as Ute players to have received weekly honors from the Pac-12 this season.
