A CLOSER LOOK…

Best high school/club experience ever:
Being a part of a great group with so many great personalities makes it hard to choose a "best" experience. I believe being a part of something bigger than myself such as a team sport is the best experience ever.

Why did you choose Oregon?
The coaching staff is amazing! Not only had I found a family the second I stepped on to campus, but I saw the things Coach White had done with the program and immediately wanted to be a part of it all. Playing against the best competition in the country has always been a vision and I saw that opportunity in the University of Oregon.

What key factors led into the decision?
First, my education! Following that, I wanted to make sure I was going to be a part of a well-rounded program with well-rounded individuals. I am more that excited to say I will be playing for the greatest coaching staff and alongside even better people.

What's the funniest thing you've seen happen on a softball field?
A good friend of mine (also a pitcher) played an infield position during a game and absolutely butchered it!

Best movie you've seen in the last year or two?
Zootopia and The Secret Life of Pets are tied for 1st place.

What's playing in your earbuds right now?
Chance the Rapper

Best advice to young players/recruits:
If playing collegiate softball is what you dream of, take it seriously. Enjoy the people you meet and the things you learn from them. Be as coach able as possible and be open to all ideas you are given by a coach. Being optimistic about all things in the game has allowed me to learn so much more as player in this game of softball.

Your philosophy or approach to life…
Everything is a learning experience. Take any and all useful things and use them to your benefit.

Fill in the blank: you won't ever catch me_________________________
… without a phone charger.

What do you want to do after softball ends?
Start a career and begin my journey through life.

What is your approach to hitting?
I believe that great hitters know and understand a lot about a pitchers tendencies and or pitch sequence. Watching a team's pitcher warmup before a game tells you a lot about what you will see in the box. To me, that is the best time to gather information. Soaking up all the information you see is almost like a "cheat sheet" for a test. You already have all of the answers right in front of you (the pitcher). The mental side of hitting helps way more as you get older and pitchers become more fierce and dominant.

What's something about you unique or unusual that most don't know?
I'm actually really shy.

Do you have any superstitions or rituals around softball?
I don't try too hard to force the game. Going with the flow is always the best way for me.

Other than family, who's a hero or someone you greatly look up to?
Other than my family, the people that fight day in and day out for my freedom are the greatest heroes around. Thank you to all the troops that have laid down their lives to ensure mine is kept.

Finally, describe yourself in one word on the field… and off the field:
Focused.
