Danielle "Danni" Kemp Loses Battle With Brain Cancer
The softball community mourns the loss of Danielle "Danni" Kemp who died March 10, 2017 from an inoperable brain tumor.

Danni was a catcher and a two-time 1st Team Connecticut All-State honoree at Foran High.

Last summer, Kemp was struck by a ball on the helmet. What appeared to be a concussion turned out to be a brain tumor. CTPost reports that she was diagnosed with a tumor known as diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas, or DIPG, a group of aggressive and difficult-to-treat brain tumors at the base of the brain.

"In all too short of a young life, Danni touched so many in a beautiful way," said Megan Bryant, the Stony Brook head softball coach on the team's website. "She fought so hard against this terrible disease and showed us what true courage is. May Danni only know peace now."

So many of you from the softball community took a moment for Danni and her family. We lost a sister, a daughter, a teammate, and a player who truly loved the game.
