Class of 2020: You're On The Hot 100 Clock!

Jayne Kamin-Oncea/USA TODAY Sports Alyssa Brito

After a great summer of watching and evaluating talent at club events from California to Florida and everywhere in between, we're ready to get back into Hot 100 player rankings mode!

Our most recent list was the talented group of 2021s and now we revisit the year right ahead of it -- the class of 2020 -- which we first published a year ago.

What was interesting about this initial group was eight of the top 10 were infielders. Will that stay the same or will we see a stronger crop of pitchers, catchers, and outfielders move to the top?

With a full year of play -- including competing in summer nationals -- we'll see what players have emerged to make the top 100 or if those who made it the first time move up, down or even out -- in one updated Hot 100, for example, nearly half of the list were new additions!

FloSoftball has done eight years of Hot 100 player lists -- from the class of 2014 through the upcoming 2021 class -- and we've updated each of the 2015-19 classes at least once.

We'll also announce who will be the top-ranked player, and those atop their classes have been impressive so far -- previous No. 1 Hot 100-ranked players included USA Softball national team member and Oregon infielder Jenna Lilley (2014), NCAA Freshman of the Year and Florida outfielder Amanda Lorenz (2015), Oregon standout pitcher Miranda Elish (2016), and USA Softball junior national team member Bri Perez (2017, UCLA signee).

Here is the planned schedule of the two-week run when we'll unveil 10 honorees per day:

Monday, Sept. 18: Hot 100-91
Tuesday, Sept. 19: 90-81
Wednesday, Sept. 20: 80-71
Thursday, Sept. 21: 70-61
Friday, Sept. 22: 60-51
Monday, Sept. 25: 50-41
Tuesday, Sept. 26: 40-31
Wednesday, Sept. 27: 30-21
Thursday, Sept. 28: 20-11
Friday, Sept. 29: 10-1

Saturday, Sept. 30: Hot 100 #1 Spotlight
Monday, Oct. 2: 101-200
Tuesday, Oct. 3: 201-300
Wednesday, Oct. 4: 301-400
Thursday, Oct. 5: 401-500
Friday, Oct. 6: Class of 2020 College Rankings

We're just beginning the process of gathering information on players and contacting clubs and college coaches all over the country, but if you'd like to nominate your favorite sophomore, please e-mail us at:

The deadline for submitting player recommendations is Monday, Sept. 11 at 6 PM EST.

E-mail us supporting info such as stats, honors, accomplishments, recruiting info (commits, offers, visits, camps, etc.) and anything else to bolster the player's case. And don't forget to send in a headshot, too!
