Signing Day Spotlight: Jasmine Sievers

When I was in high school, I would babysit Jasmine Sievers and I remember teaching her how to form a Longhorn with her tiny fingers. Absorbing the game since she was in diapers, Jasmine embarked on her own softball journey leading her to Oregon.

I can’t say that I had a big hand in the development of the No. 10 recruit in the nation. She achieved success all on her own with the help of my older brother Jay and my dad Mel Sievers.

I’m very proud of what she's achieved. She will have the opportunity to experience a new place and new challenges. Jasmine shares her big signing day.

Did you ever think this day signing with your dream school would come?

Honestly, I never thought this day would come since I committed so long ago, and I cannot believe that time went by so fast and I am now signed to my dream school.

Where will you be signing your National Letter of Intent (NLI)?

I signed my NLI at home with family and friends but signed a copy at school with other athletes in a ceremony.

Will it be a big occasion or more low-key?

It was low-key with my closest friends and family at my house to celebrate the day

What date did you actually commit and how long ago was it?

I committed on October 13, 2014, so that was over three years ago and I was a freshman.

What was the "aha" moment when you knew the program was the right one for you?

I knew Oregon was the right program to me when I went up for a camp freshman year and took a tour of the campus and absolutely loved it! Also when I saw the swag they had in the locker room and uniforms, because I believe when you look good you play good.

What will signing with your dream school mean to you personally and to those who've been part of your success (family, coaches, teammates, etc.)?

Signing to Oregon means that all of the countless amount of hours practicing, playing, and traveling along with many sacrifices were all worth it. My parents are proud of what I have accomplished especially being teen parents.

How much gear/product do you have of your future school?

I have a good amount of Oregon gear (half of my closest) but you can never have enough.

What's next for you and your softball plans?

Right now my goal is to win the PGF national championship with my travel team, California Cruisers, before going to college.
