It’s a new year and today we begin a new look at the talent in the class of 2019 as we update the Hot 100 of the current junior class for the third time (it’s been a year since we did our second revision of the ’19 class).

We’re spotlighting 10 each day on the countdown from No. 100 to No. 1, and there will be a lot of changes — as many as 25 players in the updated version will be new!

We’ll announce the top 10 of the class on Friday, January 19, and shortly after will profile the No. 1 player.

These 2019 honorees were chosen based on input and feedback from college and club coaches as well as our own FloSoftball event and in-person observations.

Criteria for choosing and ranking the players includes performances at the club and high school levels and projecting how they will play at the collegiate level.

See 2019 Hot 100 List

100 | Jourdyn Campbell OF/UT | Impact Gold Jackson (Texas A&M)

Texas A&M spotted Campbell as an 8th grader, drawn by her athleticism, speed, and versatility, along with her outstanding work ethic. Coaches who’ve worked with her state that her “never satisfied” mentality and constant pursuit of improvement will be her keys to success. It’s evident that she wants to feedback on her progress also, as she attended the USA Elite’s Select 30 Camp in 2016 and 2017, where she earned first-team All-American honors both years. With six high school home runs and 11 stolen bases, she earned district first-team honors at Kingwood (TX) High. Her versatility in playing multiple positions is a big asset that should help her see early playing time with the Aggies.

99 | McKenzie Barbara C/1B | Explosion - Denio (Ole Miss)

Barbara is a standout double-threat catcher who has the versatility to play multiple positions. She helped the So Cal Choppers win a TC/USA National Championship two summers ago when she hit two home runs and also led the team to a Boulder IDT title. She has excellent strength and can deadlift 300 pounds, which translates to tremendous power at the plate. As a freshman at St. Joseph High (Lakewood, CA) she led the team in every offensive category — including a .455 average — and this past spring as a freshman batted .420 and didn’t make an error behind the plate all season. The future Rebel is also cousins with another standout 2019 Hot 100 honoree: outfielder Bella Dayton, who is committed to Arizona.

98 | Taylor Bachmeyer P/ UT | Texas Blaze (Ole Miss)

Bachmeyer has earned the nickname “Big Game Bach,” and thrives on competing when the stakes are highest. Bachmeyer is at home in the circle and welcomes the pressure that big games bring. Not just a one-dimensional pitcher, she’s also a hitter and was third on her Texas Blaze team in OPS with a 1.206. Bachmeyer collected 30 strikeouts over 23 innings and compiled a 2.07 ERA playing for her Hendrickson (Pflugerville, TX) High team. On the way to a breakout high school season, she suffered an injury to her ACL and is now rehabbing with her comeback slated for March. Bachmeyer committed to Ole Miss over interest from several Big 12 teams.

97 | Hope Straight P/1B | Beverly Bandits (Ohio State)

Straight is a lefty pitcher and a dangerous hitter who takes over games be it in the circle or at the plate. An outstanding volleyball talent as well, the Mt. Verson (OH) High versatile athlete has great upside in large part because of her fiery competitive nature. She throws in the mid-60s and can hit all the spots, but her bat is equally dangerous as shown by her batting .525 with nine home runs and a 1.013 slugging average as a sophomore to lead her high school team to a district championship. Straight also led the area with 37 RBIs and 40 runs scored to earn all-area player of the year and all-state honors. She has the ability to be an all-conference player in the Big Ten for the Buckeyes; she chose to stay close to home as the Columbus campus is less than an hour from the athlete’s home.

96 | Ivory Jones 3B/1B | Firecrackers - Sewell (Duke)

Jones is a prototypical corner infielder who has prolific power in her bat and can change the game with one swing, but she also is an exceptional all-around athlete who has deceptive speed with the skills to play outfield for Kyle Sewell’s Firecrackers Premier team. Jones can also do damage on the base paths but the deep ball threat is what earned her a scholarship from Marissa Young and the Blue Devils, to whom she committed in December. Jones had 15 home runs this past summer for the Firecrackers and playing for Chapel Hill (Douglasville, GA) High earned all-region for the third-straight season after batting .345 and compiling a .424 on-base percentage.

95 | Katie Perkins 2B/1B | Georgia Impact Stewart (North Carolina)

Perkins, a productive lefty infielder, has benefited from being guided by her mom and former Georgia Tech coach Sharon Perkins and has been an elite national player for years. With the Atlanta Premier organization, the Georgia standout helped her team to a second-place finish at ASA Nationals, then moved up early to the 18U Gold ranks and Dick Vallery’s Atlanta Vipers squad. Facing solid college-bound pitchers like Gabby Sprang, Rachel Vaughn, and Ava Tillman, Perkins has competed against the best and has shown she is a clutch performer, which included hitting the game-winner for Buford High in the 5A Georgia state championship game. She committed to North Carolina in the fall of her freshman year.

94 | Hannah Dardano OF/1B | California Breeze (Washington)

Dardano is a lefty power-hitter with slapper-style speed and uses her athletic tools to bat third in the order for the Breeze. The California junior stands 5-foot-9 and gets to first in 2.7 seconds. With her recruiting already heating up in the 8th grade and several major Division I programs after her, Dardano was invited to Husky campus for a camp after coach Heather Tarr watched her at the 14U PGF Nationals. Her performance at the camp — where the young player demonstrated her leadership, confidence, and athleticism, which has included setting a district high jump record — led to her getting a UW offer which she soon accepted. Dardano was a starter in every varsity game starting as a freshman at Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills, CA) High.

93 | Angela Zedak 3B/OF | Illinois Chill (Northwestern)

With a ODM Score of 103.18 as a 9th grader, Zedak is known for her outstanding athletic ability. A stellar third baseman, the Illinois standout can also step into the circle with speeds in the low 60s complemented by an excellent change to keep hitters off balance.  Add to that a dominant and consistent bat and the Marist (Joliet, IL) High athlete is a contributor in multiple ways. Zedak was recruited by Big Ten and SEC schools before finding her home with Northwestern. The victim of an ACL injury at Boulder IDT last July, the junior spent the rest of the summer and fall rehabbing, but is expected back stronger than ever.

92 | Lexi Carver C/UT | Beverly Bandits (Pitt)

Carver is a catcher with the athletic skills to play anywhere and a softball IQ which led one coach to say, “Lexi is as smart as any player or coach on the field.” She batted .408 with four home runs and 15 RBIs this fall playing for Rona Dorsey’s 16U program and is known for her clutch ability to come up big when it counts: she has 10 last-inning game-winning hits over the last two years for the Bandits and for her Owen Valley (Spencer, IN) High team. She led all freshman in the Hoosier State in batting average and doubles in 2016 and this year earned first-team all-region by the Herald Times for the second consecutive season. Carver committed to the Panthers in the fall of 2016 after receiving heavy interest from ACC, Big 12, and Big 10 schools.

91 | Anna Jones OF | Texas Bombers Gold (LSU)

Jones is a strong outfielder with a good arm and glove in the field, but her stick is what wowed scouts as she’s a leadoff contact hitter who is skilled at getting on base, and then has the speed to come around and score. The Texan was the MVP for one of the top club teams in the nation and helped the Bombers finish fifth in Colorado. Jones is a lefty hitter who also has shined in volleyball and basketball and played for her father, Bill, in the Sudden Impact organization helping her teams take top-five finishes at Atlanta Legacy and Triple Crown as well as a 13th-place finish at PGF Nationals prior to becoming a Bomber. Drawing attention at camps and showcase events at an early age, the Deer Park High junior committed to LSU in the fall of 2014.
