We’re spotlighting 10 each day on the countdown from No. 100 to No. 1, and there will be a lot of changes — as many as 25 players in the updated version will be new!

We’ll announce the top 10 of the class on Friday, January 19, and shortly after will profile the No. 1 player.

These 2019 honorees were chosen based on input and feedback from college and club coaches as well as our own FloSoftball event and in-person observations.

Criteria for choosing and ranking the players includes performances at the club and high school levels and projecting how they will play at the collegiate level.

Today we feature players No. 40 to 11 who come from California (5), Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas.

40 | Jazmine Hill IF/OF | So Cal Athletics—Richardson (Arizona State)

Hill is one of the most well-rounded and athletic players in the 2019 class — she runs well, steals bases, and has a strong arm. Said one club coach of the Southern California junior, “Jazmine doesn’t know how good she can be… she has yet realized all her talent.” She’s an all-around hitter who hits for power and average. As a sophomore at Gahr (Cerritos, CA) High last spring, Hill batted .482 with a .556 on-base percentage and had seven home runs on 47 hits with 22 RBIs and 52 runs scored in only 26 games to earn first-team all-conference honors. She bats third in the lineup for the powerhouse Athletics team and hit .370 in fall ball while leading Bruce Richardson’s team in home runs and RBIs. Earlier in her career, she was a pick-up for the A’s-Briggs team at 12U and helped the team finish third nationally. Hill committed to the Sun Devils in January of 2017.

39 | Sharlize Palacios C/1B | OC Batbusters—Stith (Arizona)

On the national recruiting scene since 2013, this catcher and corner infielder has a cannon for an arm, frames for strikes behind the plate, and has a pop-time to keep baserunners honest. Arizona snapped her up her freshman year; however, Palacios has been honing her skills at the national level of club ball since 12U. She turned her bat on this fall, with six home runs in three games until an untimely concussion took her out of the Diamond 9 (Orlando, FL) event. A player who continues to improve her game, Palacios will make an impact for the Wildcats.

38 | Jenna Johnson OF | Tennessee Fury Platinum (Alabama)

Johnson has held down center field and the leadoff spot for eight years with her Fury Platinum club team. She swiped every base she aimed for and hit eight home runs last season. Johnson hit .585 with 12 HR for Page (Franklin, TN) High School, good enough for all-state honors. For the Fury, she hit eight home runs and batted .405. Anything in the air in the outfield becomes highlight reel fodder thanks to her speed and athleticism. This fearless center fielder was heavily recruited by SEC and ACC schools but ended up choosing Alabama after her freshman year.

37 | Jaylin Calvert OF/UT | Beverly Bandits (Auburn)

Calvert can play anywhere in the outfield but is a serious stud in center field. Fast enough to bear the nickname “Jet,” Calvert reads the ball off the bat exceptionally well and takes away hits on a regular basis for her nationally ranked Beverly Bandits club team. On the bases, that speed combines with amazing instincts and an aggressive mentality to put enormous pressure on the defense. A hard worker on and off the field and recognized by her teammates as a leader, one of her club coaches said “She plays the outfield in a way that saves games, saves runs, and saves championships,” in an article in the Greenfield Reporter. She caught the attention of new Auburn head coach Mickey Dean and recently committed to the Auburn.

36 | Jadelyn Allchin P/IF | OC Batbusters—Stith (Washington)

Allchin is known for her incredible arm and can throw a runner out from any position she’s playing. Other than catcher, she can play at each position and plays them at a high level. Playing for Mike Stith’s Batbusters, the sophomore has great bat speed and continues to advance and improve her game. One coach called Allchin “a superstar whose best softball is ahead of her.” She hit .430 with six home runs for her Huntington Beach (CA) High School. She had heavy interest from Pac-12 and Big 12 before settling on coach Heather Tarr’s Huskies last year.

35 | Gabi Deters C | St. Louis Chaos (Kentucky)

Deters is a tall, athletic catcher who also shines in basketball (11 ppg, 5 assists, 5 rebounds), but there’s no doubt softball is her future as she made the USA Softball junior national team in 2016 and has all the tools to be a major player for years to come at the college and international level. Deters stands at 5-foot-9 and has power at the plate and a cannon for an arm. She earned second team all-state honors as a freshman and was first-team all-state as a sophomore when she hit .521 with 11 home runs and 26 RBIs; she followed that up last fall with a repeat Class 2 first-team all-state selection. Deters played in the World Cup of Softball XII representing the United States and is part of a strong 2019 recruiting class for Rachel Lawson and the Wildcats as she committed to the SEC school in September of 2016.

34 | Lexi Voss OF/UT | Beverly Bandits (Michigan)

Voss received an amazing 105.02 Allister Index by OnDeck Softball, making her one of the top athletes in her class, but she’s making her own mark as a rally starter for her Bandits team. She was a vital part of the 2017 PGF Championship win for the Bandits, inspiring the bats with her double, and scoring to tie the game. This right-handed power hitter can go yard at any time against anyone. An outstanding center fielder, she’s savvy, a great tracker, and has a strong arm to keep runners from advancing when the ball hit the green. In fact, she’s one of those athletes who make any play look easy. She received an offer from Michigan in 2015 and made the decision to play for the legendary coach Hutchins shortly afterward.

33 | Nyomi Jones OF | Firecrackers—Rico (Tennessee)

Jones is an explosive threat on offense and defense and has what once coach calls “the abilities you just can’t teach.” She’s super fast and has all the physical tools to be a franchise outfielder at the next level. What’s intriguing is she’s still in the learning curve of increasing her awareness in her development so it’s hard to tell how great she can be. She made a huge national splash two years ago when she helped her Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA) High team knock off the then top-ranked Orange Lutheran squad in the CIF Southern Section Div. I title game; as a freshman, she led both her club and high school teams in steals without being thrown out once. As a sophomore in 2017, she did even better at the plate, batting .421 and not making an error in the outfield all year (31 games). Because of her blazing speed, competitive fire, and desire to improve, she was sought after by major programs nationwide before committing to the Vols in October of 2016.

32 | Isabella Dayton CF | So Cal Choppers—Fausett (Arizona)

Dayton hails from Wylie, Texas, but plays for the Southern Cal-based Choppers and has had great success as a lefty slapper with power. A softball player since age 6, she’s become one of the fastest players in her class as she runs a 2.6-2.7 home-to-first and used that speed to earn back-to-back district offensive player of the year honors and was a first-team 6A all-state pick last season after batting .468 and scoring 48 runs. Dayton was also selected as a USA Select 30 top 15 pick the last two years. Last fall, she batted .511 in showcase tournaments in Huntington Beach and is the prototype leadoff hitter who sets the table for the run generators behind her. Dayton is one of the top base runners in her class and is unstoppable when she does a delayed steal — as a freshman, for example, she was 27-for-27 on the base paths. She’s a great all-around athlete who has run track and played basketball and soccer also. The Texan was originally committed to Ole Miss, but switched to the Wildcats last November.

31 | Jenna Bloom P | Explosion—Denio (Arkansas)

Bloom continues to improve as one of the top pitchers in the talent-rich Southern California area and, as one coach says, “Jenna just keeps getting stronger both mentally and physically.” The junior at Edison (Huntington Beach) High throws in the 63-66 mph range and is her club coach, Bret Denio, says, “She’s getting stronger too.” Bloom has been a high school starter since her freshman year and with a change and tough knuckleball, she wracks up her share of strikeouts as shown by one PGF Nationals victory last summer when she threw a complete game two-hitter with eight K’s. She first put herself on the map when she led the Explosion to a fifth-place finish at Boulder IDT in 2016 and went 3-0 at PGF Nationals that year. Her big summer led to heavy interest before she committed to the Razorbacks in August of 2016.
