Top Newcomers To Watch At The Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic

The 2018 season is underway and a number of freshmen are beginning to make their marks heading into the two-weekend Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, California.

In this weekend's opening slate of games, one of the most anticipated freshmen to watch is No. 1 2017 Hot 100 recruit Briana Perez. The UCLA freshman opened her college career with an 11-for-18 performance at the plate, including two home runs and 11 RBIs, over the course of five games last week.

However, she is not the only dangerous newcomer in a Bruins lineup that is stacked with power, speed, and versatility. Coming off a redshirt year, Aaliyah Jordan went 6 for 13 with five RBIs. True freshman Kinsley Washington also made an impact with four RBIs.

The second weekend at Mary Nutter (Feb. 22-25) will feature two standout freshmen from the SEC. Mississippi State's Mia Davidson has gotten off to a ridiculous start, hitting .667 with two home runs and five RBIs. Meanwhile, Auburn infielder Taylon Snow is tearing it up, batting .500 with five RBIs.

Don't miss out on Mary Nutter, the premier preseason DI event of the year.
