After contacting every junior college coach in the nation, conducting extensive research, and measuring the top junior college programs, we are very happy to recognize the first JUCO Hot 100.

Many of these sophomores will go on to play at four-year universities and will likely be key contributors for high- or mid-major programs in 2019. Strong and competitive at their respective positions, these talented athletes hailed from all over the country.

90 | Mercedes Salazar, IF | Lamar College (Adams State)

This power-hitting righty from Pueblo, CO, finished her freshman year with 10 dingers, 49 RBIs, and a .432 batting average. With a strong core around her, Salazar and her teammates find themselves atop the Region IX standings, vying for the ultimate trip to Utah in May.

89 | Taylor McHenry, OF | San Jacinto South

McHenry, a former high school state champion from Deer Park in Texas, is a returning first-team all-region outfielder for the Gators. The left-hander led the team in stolen bases and triples while knocking in 37 runs in 2017.

88 | Randi Scruggs, OF | Three Rivers College (Lyon College)

OF-A 1st team Missouri Community College pick a year ago, the feisty L/L outfielder swiped 53 bases and finished 2017 with a .420 batting average. COMMITTED: Lyon College

87 | Amber Stewart, P/UT | Lake Region State

The 6-foot Canadian comes back after a solid freshman season. Stewart was named first-team all-conference and first-team All-Region XIII. She is hitting a .714 on the year and is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA for the defending Mon-Dak Conference champs.

86 | Casey Gilbert, OF/P | Walters State

An All-TJCCAA first-team all-conference performer, Gilbert has continued to lead the Senators both on and off the field. At the plate, she is hitting .458 with six home runs and 28 RBIs while also picking up nine wins on the mound for a team that was one game away from the World Series a year ago.

85 | Mikey Nelson, P | Conners State

The strikeout queen (449 Ks in 226 IP senior year) from Frontier High School in Oklahoma was a two-time Stillwater News Press Player of the Year. So far this season she has hit six home runs while posting an 11-3 record with a 1.61 ERA and averaging six strikeouts per game.

84 | Allison Betty, IF | Arizona Western College

The Redondo Beach, CA, native burst onto the scene a year ago, putting together a great freshman campaign. Her .461 batting average was among the highest on the team, but her most impressive stat was only three strikeouts in 152 at-bats.

83 | Taylor Jones, OF | Indian Hills

Coming off a second-team all-region selection and a trip to the NJCAA World Series, Jones returns as one of the top outfielders in the tough Region XI. This lefty speedster has racked up 24 stolen bases (blowing past her seven swipes for all of last year) and is hitting .423 for the Warriors.

82 | Morgan Gray, OF | Blinn

The lefty from Houston returns to lead the outfield for the always highly competitive Bucs. Gray was a first-team all-conference and all-region pick a year ago while leading Blinn in stolen bases (18), triples (two), and batting average (.417). Look for Gray to be manning the outfield at the Division I level next season.

81 | Madison Shaw, IF | Rock Valley

A steady presence at third base for the back-to-back-to-back-to-back NJCAA DIII national champions, Shaw collected first-team all-conference, all-region, and All-American honors during her freshman year. Altogether, she hit .369 with six home runs, eight triples, and 41 RBIs. Excellence and a winning culture are great recipes for success at the next level when four-year coaches are looking for difference makers to bring in from the two-year level.
