Effective on April 25, 2018, the NCAA Division I Council has approved legislation establishing September 1 of a prospect's junior year as the official start date for all softball recruiting contact.
Before the announcement was made, a number of 2023, 2022, and 2021 athletes announced their verbal commitments to major universities.
