After two weeks of administrative leave, Lamar University Director of Athletics Marco Born announced that softball head coach Holly Bruder will not return next season.

She built the program from scratch and guided the team to a NISC runnerup finish in 2017. This season the team is 28-28 dropping the last three games of the regular season.

There have been no explanations yet as to why Bruder was fired but we will keep you updated as the story develops.

Bruder's lawyer, Cade Bernsen made this statement following the dismissal:

In light of the false allegations by Ms. Holmes and her father and the unfortunate decision by Lamar, Coach Bruder is going to defend herself, her team, her players (former and present), her staff and the program she loves so much. Over the past two weeks, Coach and her staff have been brutally attacked in the media.

Ms.  Holmes’  claims  of  her  “civil  liberties”  being purposefully  violated  by  the  Lamar softball team are outrageous, completely false and amount to nothing more than an old-fashioned “shakedown.”

What is truly saddening is that instead of supporting their coach and her staff,  Lamar Administrators threw them under the bus.

Coach Bruder and her staff have spent their blood, sweat, and tears building the Lamar softball team from scratch. She is going to defend herself. More to come”
