The Wait For PGF Is Almost Over

The PA Strikers stole the show with a huge 12-11 come-from-behind victory over Joshua Fisher's Georgia Impact in the fourth round of the winner's bracket at the PGF 14U Premier Nationals on Thursday evening at Huntington Beach Sports Complex

The Strikers found themselves in an 11-6 hole after five innings before rallying for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the Impact, 11-11. Marissa Rapino and Taylor Posner had RBI singles, then, with the bases loaded, a series of throwing errors allowed three runs to score to tie the game at 11-11.

Brianna Peck led off the bottom of the seventh with a double, but once again an error proved to be the Impact's downfall. Drexel-commit Acelynn Sellers was the next batter and she laid down a sacrifice bunt that was fielded cleanly by the pitcher and thrown by the first baseman, allowing Peck to score the game-winner.

"We have so much dedication in this group," said Sellers, who also pitched a scoreless top of the seventh in relief. "We believe in ourselves and are so motivated to lay it all out on the field no matter what the score is, so none of us were surprised that we came back the way that we did."

Posner ended up going 3 for 5 with a run and an RBI, Sellers went 2 for 4 with a double, a homer and three RBI and Rapino went 3 for 4 with two runs and an RBI to power the Strikers.

"We've come so far when few expected us to," Peck said. "We believe in ourselves and our goal is to go as far as we can and no matter what happens to know that we showed that we will fight to the end."

The Strikers face Nathan Nelson's Diamond Sports Hotshots on Friday at 10:15 AM.

Corona Angels Tyson vs Batbusters Campbell

Iowa State-commit Angelina Allen drew a bases-loaded walk to force in the go-ahead run and Boise State-commit Savannah Adams added a two-run single as Marty Tyson's Corona Angels rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh and held on for a 4-1 victory over Mark Campbell's OC Batbusters in the fourth round of the winner's bracket.

Sorcerer vs Iowa Premier

Tai Wilson went 4 for 4 with a run scored, Olivia Silvestre went 2 for 3 with a run and two RBI, UCLA-commit Caitlyn Newburn went 2 for 2 with a double, a run and an RBI, Jenissa Conway went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Abbie Lee went 2 for 3 with a run to lead Sorcerer-Schroll's 15-hit attack in a 7-1 win that knocked Iowa Premier into the loser's bracket.

Sorcerer takes on the Corona Angels on Friday at 10:15 AM.
