Florida earned its first victory over a Top 5 opponent this season with a 1-0 victory over fifth-ranked Washington on Friday—but it didn't come easily.

It took eight innings and a tie-breaker runner before the Gators could get to Washington pitcher Taran Alvelo, who set a new career high with 15 strikeouts while allowing just four hits.

On the other side, Kelly Barnhill turned in one of the most spectacular performances of her career, spinning a complete game, one-hit shutout that required she engage in some high-stakes overtime.
