CLERMONT, FLA. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team concluded its eight-game trip to Florida with two wins on Monday morning, including a 2-1 upset of No. 14 Grand Valley State. The Tritons, winners of four straight, began the morning with a 6-0 win over Assumption.

Lydia Goble led off the game with a solo home run for GVSU and after a walk to the number two hitter, Tiffee retired 16 of the next 17 batters she faced before a two-out triple in the sixth. However, she induced an inning-ending ground out to end the threat.

Tiffee struck out 10 and walked three.

Offensively, the Tritons tallied five hits and got a one-out two-run double off the bat of redshirt junior Morgan Hill in the bottom of the fourth for the 2-1 lead. Those runs snapped a three-game shutout streak by Grand Valley State, which had not allowed a run in five of its previous seven games.

Martinez finished with two hits.
