It was Audrey LeClair’s dream to commit to Michigan. LeClair turned her first game of the 18U TC/USA Nationals into a dream too.


She recorded two singles, a triple, walk, RBI and steal against three different pitchers, leading Firecrackers AZ to an 11-4 victory against Glory Adkins Gold.

“I never try to overwhelm myself,” LeClair said. “My teammates are very helpful with (facing different pitchers).”


Lady Lightning Gold DPS vs Aces Express McCorkle

Also in pool play Monday, the Lady Lightning Gold Demarini Platinum Squad won a 4-3 nailbiter against Aces Express Gold. 


Concord (North Carolina) rising junior Sharla Kirkpatrick threw six shutout frames before yielding three runs in the seventh. However, she induced a groundout with the bases loaded to finish the game.

“I just had to stay calm,” Kirkpatrick said. “We only needed three outs, and we had some insurance runs.”

Kent Island (Maryland) High School star Emily Blum hit a two-run triple for the Lady Lightning in the fourth.

Also on Monday, a pitchers duel unfolded with Auburn commit Maddie Penta tossing a no-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts for PA Chaos Gold, but Tampa Mustangs starter, North Carolina State commit Brooklyn Lucero and her defense did not back down. 

Lucero pitched a shutout with three strikeouts. The game ended 0-0.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Softball Capital of the World® will turn Red, White and Blue as 29 Olympic hopefuls arrived in Oklahoma City for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Softball Team Selection Trials. Held through October 6 on Field 3 at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex, athletes will vie for a spot on the 15-player roster and three replacement athlete roles on the 2020 Women’s National Team (WNT).
