PGF 14U Quarterfinal Match Ups Mojo, OK Hotshots, Batbusters, AZ Storm
Mojo Fisher, OK Hotshots, Batbusters Flores, AZ Storm Appel/Mathis advance to PGF 14U Premier quarterfinals.
It was all about survival at the PGF 14U Premier Nationals and it looked like highly-touted Mojo 04-Fisher had that part all taken care of after taking a 5-0 lead on Firecrackers-Brashear 2022 after two innings on Friday night at Huntington Beach Sports Complex.
But looks can be deceiving, especially at the PGF Nationals, and the Mojo found themselves in a dogfight with Firecrackers before pulling out a 6-5 victory in 11 innings to advance to the sixth round of the winner's bracket.
Florida-commit Keagan Rothrock, who threw a perfect game earlier in the day, turned in another outstanding effort to go the distance for the Mojo.
Auburn-commit Taylor Pannell drove in Florida-commit Mia Williams with a sacrifice fly to right field in the top of the 11th to give the Mojo the go-ahead run.

"I mean, it was very long and I'm just of our team that everyone pulled through and no one gave up," Pannell said. "And Keagan pitched a great game. I just knew that I had to get the ball in the air to the outfield, so she could tag up and score. I mean, we scored five in the first two innings, but we didn't think we would have to go 11 innings.
Rothrock, who allowed seven hits, no earned runs, four walks and struck out 15 in 11 innings, pitched a perfect bottom of the 11th to help the Mojo escape with the victory.
Georgia-commit Jaydyn Goodwin went 4 for 6 with three runs, Williams went 4 for 6 with two runs and two RBIs, Pannell went 1 for 5 with two RBIs, LSU-commit Maci Bergeron went 2 for 5 with an RBI and Jolie Adams went 2 for 5 as the Mojo built a 5-0 lead after two innings.
But the Firecrackers used some small ball to fight back and manufacture two runs in the bottom of the third, two runs in the bottom of the fourth and tied it in the bottom of the seventh when Kyra Chan stole third on a fake-bunt-steal play and scored on a ba d throw, sending the game into ITB.
Chan went 3 for 5 with a steal and two runs scored and Ashlee Annett went 2 for 5 for the Firecrackers.
The Mojo advances to the sixth round of the winner's bracket to face Oklahoma Hotshots Premier-Yeatts on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at Field 3. The Firecrackers drop down to the loser's bracket of the double-elimination tournament and will face Hotshots Premier-Nelson on Saturday at 8 a.m. at Field 1.
In other winner's bracket fifth-round games:
Oklahoma Hotshots Premier-Yeatts 5, OC Batbusters-Campbell/Stith 4
The Hotshots manufactured a run in ITB to knock off the Batbusters with a walk-off win in the bottom of the eighth. Bella Cabral, who went 2 for 4 with a homer, two runs and two RBIs, moved Taryn Martin to third with a bunt single and Chloe Yeatts drove her in with a grounder to second base that was mishandled by the Batbusters, ending a back-and-forth battle.
"It was an amazing game," Yeatts said. "Both teams came out ready to fight. Both teams were cheering, both teams had intensity and it just came down to who wanted it more and I guess we wanted it more."
The Batbusters face Central Cal Dirtdogs-Pickering in the seventh round of the loser's bracket on Saturday at 8 a.m. at Field 2.
OC Batbusters-Flores 8, Cal Breeze-Fernald 4
Ashley West connected on a three-run homer and Presley Hosick, Ailana Agbayani, Lily Owens and Salem Flores had two hits apiece to lift the Batbusters into the sixth round of the winner's bracket where they face Arizona Storm-Mathis/Appel, a 2-1 winner over Beverly Bandits DeMarini-Richards, on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at Field 4.
Cal Breeze faces Texas Bombers Gold-Torres in the loser's bracket on Saturday at 8 a.m. on Field 4 and the Bandits take on Texas Bombers Gold HTX-Burgess in the the loser's bracket on Saturday at 8 a.m. at Field 3.

Nyjah Fontenot went 1 for 2 with three runs scored, Taryn Martin doubled and drove in two runs, Chloe Yeatts went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI and Nay Nay Turner went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored to lead the Hotshots, who used a seven-run rally in the bottom of the sixth to beat the Lady Dukes.
OC Batbusters-Campbell/M. Stith 9, NorCal Firecrackers-Mettler 6
