WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Grand Valley State Lakers won two more games Friday (March 6) to push their winning streak to nine straight games with a 6-1 win over Adelphi and 17-3 drubbing of Georgian Court. The Lakers are now 11-3 this season with one more doubleheader left in their Florida trip.

Hannah Beatus carried a no-hitter through six innings in game one before a leadoff, infield single in the seventh. She would allow one unearned run on one hit and four walks while striking out six to earn the complete game victory (W, 5-1).

Nikoma Holmen ed the Laker attack with three RBI in a 2-4 game. Brooke Henning went 3-4, drove in a pair of runs and scored once. Lydia Goble went 3-3 and scored twice while Page Ligocki had a pair of hits and scored. Joanna Cirrincione also scored a pair of runs in the win to match Taylor Rieger for the team lead in runs scored this season (15).

GVSU broke the scoreless tie with two runs in the third. Henning and Holmen both drove in runs with singles. Then, in the sixth, the Lakers broke things open with a Rieger sacrifice fly, Henning RBI double and Holmen two-run single. Adelphi would push their lone run across in the seventh.

The Laker offense stayed hot to start game two, scoring four runs in the first inning. Cirrincione led off the game with a walk, then came around to score on a two-run blast from Rieger – her fourth of the season – before a Kelcie LaTour two-run single later in the inning chased home Goble and Holmen. Goble would crush her second homer of the year, a solo shot, in the second inning to add to the lead.

A three-run homer by Georgian Court got them back within two in the third inning. Goble would once again have the answer in the Laker fourth, lofting a double into the gap in left-center to plate a pair. One batter later, Holmen punched a triple down the right field line to bring home two more runs. The Lakers would score 11 runs in the fourth inning to break the game wide open.

Goble would lead the Laker attack with a 3-4 game, driving in five runs and scoring three times. Rieger went 1-3 with three RBI and a pair of runs while Holmen had a 3-4 game with two RBI and a pair of runs scored. LaTour drove in two runs and Cirrincione scored three times while also driving in one.

Ashley Platek earned the win (W, 4-2) with four innings in the circle, allowing three runs on four hits without walking a batter and striking out two. Hannah Dieck hurled a 1-2-3 fifth to close out the mercy-rule victory.

The Lakers play two more games before returning from Florida. They will face Minnesota Duluth at 11:30 AM then play Missouri-St. Louis at 1:45 PM. GVSULakers.com will provide links to live stats while @GVSUSoftball has live updates throughout both games.
