2020 Atlanta Legacy Showcase Celebrates 13th Year

The 2020 Atlanta Legacy Showcase will be celebrating its 13th year run July 8-12. The event will host teams from approximately 38 states. With 320+ teams participating from so many states, The Atlanta Legacy Showcase annually draws 450+ College Coaches from various NCAA DI, II, III, JUCO & NAIA every with the exception of 2020. Atlanta is only one of four cities in the country that boast the four necessary components to host an event of its type :

  • Hotels – 85,000 rooms on any given night.
  • Fields – The event is held at 8 parks in Cherokee and Cobb Counties. Cobb and Cherokee annually host ASA Nationals and Team USA/ASA events.
  • Airport – As the world's busiest airport, Atlanta has 20+ flights a day from every major softball city in the country.
  • Weather – As a southern city, softball is played nearly all year. While the summer usually brings pop afternoon showers, they usually pass to allow for continued play.

With most of the teams flying into Hartsfield International Airport, the parks are approximately 45 minutes north of Downtown Atlanta. This allows us to stay well north of the city and Atlanta’s notorious traffic.

The hallmark of The Atlanta Legacy Showcase has always been its treatment of its College Coaches and Umpires.

The Founder, Will Tomasello, caters heavily to both groups by offering them an experience much like a high-end golf tournament. As such, he partnered in Becky Massave (Events Coordinator), who has taken the softball experience to a much higher level. At each of the eight parks, Becky has created a top-flight Hospitality experience. With three catered meals a day, she provides much-anticipated relief from the ordinary concession fare for Coaches and Umpires. She provides for fruit, gluten-free alternatives, drink options, charging phone/iPad stations to name just a few. Combine these extras with a strong dose of Southern Hospitality and The Atlanta Legacy Showcase is a great warm-up for Nationals.

With the success of The Atlanta Legacy, we are fortunate to recruit and retain the best NCAA umpires from the ACC/SEC. For parents and travel coaches coming to Atlanta, there are so many other after-hours shopping and attractions. For players, it gives them an opportunity to see first hand what playing softball in the south is like. For College Coaches, this is a high-level competition event that gives them an opportunity to see the best clubs and teams play one another.
