Brayden Thompson is the second-ranked wrestler in the country at 170 lbs, perhaps the deepest weight class in all of high school wrestling. This season, he's had had strong performances at national level events with titles at Cheesehead, Powerade, and the Dan Gable Donnybrook. He also finished 3rd at Super 32 and 2nd at Fargo. Now, he's announced his next move.

The #14 ranked recruit in the class of 2023 will be heading to Oklahoma State to join John Smith's Cowboys. Thompson joins Big Boarders Cael Hughes and Jersey Robb who committed earlier this season. The Cowboys' 2022 recruiting class includes 160-pounders Anthony Ferrari and Jordan Williams, two potential training partners for Thompson.

Thompson projects as a 174-pounder where Oklahoma State's current starter, #10 Dustin Plott is a sophomore, and while he isn't the only man on the roster at that weight, there appears to be a clear path to a starting role for the Illinois star.
