BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball stormed back from a 6-0 deficit to defeat Michigan State in game one of the series Friday afternoon at Andy Mohr Field, 13-8.

KEY MOMENTS
• The Spartans put up five runs in the third inning, first on a bases-loaded walk to Kaitlyn Eveland and then on a grand slam by Caitie Ladd.
• Michigan State made it 6-0 in the fourth by taking advantage of an Indiana error to bring in Abby Joseph.
• The Hoosiers got to work in the bottom of the fourth, loading the bases four separate times to put up a 12-run inning.
• After a flyout for the first out, sophomore Grayson Radcliffe was hit by a pitch and sophomore Maddie Westmoreland doubled to put two in scoring position. Senior Sarah Galovich then delivered a single to left field to score Radcliffe and put IU on the board. A walk to freshman Juvia Davis loaded the bases for sophomore Taylor Lambert, who cleared the bags on a triple to right center to make it 6-4.
• Indiana cut the deficit to just one run as junior Gabbi Jenkins laid down a squeeze to plate Lambert. Back-to-back singles from sophomore Annika Baez and junior Bella Norton again loaded the bases for junior Katie Lacefield, who plated a pair of runs on a double to left field.
• A walk to Radcliffe loaded the bases a third time as Westmoreland drew a walk to bring in pinch runner Karly Combs and push the lead to 8-6. Galovich then delivered two more RBI on a single before the final two runs came across on a Michigan State fielding error to extend the IU lead to 12-6.
• IU added a run in the fifth as junior Gabbi Jenkins led off with a double before coming home on a single by junior Bella Norton.
• Michigan State would get two runs back in the seventh on a two-run homer from Ladd, but would get no closer as freshman Natalie Foor struck out the next two batters to end the game.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Indiana's 13 runs scored are tied with March 17's win against Saint Francis as the most of the season. The 13 hits are tied with IU's Feb. 22 win against Akron as the most this year.
• The 12 fourth-inning runs are the most scored in a single inning under head coach Shonda Stanton.
• Five Hoosiers put up multi-hit outings – Jenkins, Baez, Norton, Westmoreland and Galovich.
• IU saw 10 different Hoosiers score at least one run while Jenkins, Radcliffe and Galovich each scored two apiece.
• Galovich set a new career best with three RBI.
• Lambert's three RBI tied her career she set against Purdue last season.
• Redshirt junior Josie Wood earned the win as she went 2.0 innings in relief, allowing just two hits and one run.
• Indiana moves to 26-10 on the season, tying last year's win total.
• Michigan State falls to 11-19 on the year.

HEAD COACH SHONDA STANTON
"You don't win or lose until you win or lose. Proud of our group. We did a great job in the fourth inning of clutching up and attacking good pitches to plate the runs we needed. It was nice to see a variety of people step-up – all through the lineup. Galovich made the most of her opportunity being in and out of games this year and I'm proud of Josie to come in and give us a quality showing one time through the lineup then Natalie shut the door. Look forward to coming out and getting a faster start in the next game."
