In the highest-scoring game of the weekend, that could have seen even more than the 18 runs that were scored, Texas Tech Baseball bounced back from its Friday night loss to Tennessee to end the weekend with back-to-back wins over Nebraska and Oregon. 

The Red Raiders handed Oregon its first loss after the Ducks had scored wins over Oklahoma and Baylor earlier this weekend

The Red Raiders took control of the game with a six-run second inning and sent Oregon starter Turner Spoljaric out of the game early. 

Toby Twist allowed Oregon to get back in the game after 3.2 innings with six strikeouts as Oregon cut the lead to a single run. 

But every time Oregon got close, the team's historically reliable bullpen let them down. Texas Tech scored four insurance runs over in the last three frames to keep Oregon at bay. 

The teams combined to leave 22 runners on base, including 13 by Oregon. 

Oregon and Texas Tech both end the weekend 2-1, just like Oklahoma did earlier in the day when they beat Nebraska.

Oregon put two runners down four, but couldn't get any runs as Max Huffling picked up the three-inning save. Huffling allowed six hits but struck out seven. 

Bottom Of Eighth: Texas Tech Baseball Adds More Runs. Lead 11-7

TTU is on the verge of its second win to close out the College Baseball Showdown 

Top Of Eight: Texas Tech Pitcher Max Huffling Dealing

Max Huffling struck out three and worked around a double to finish the frame. 

Bottom Of Seventh: Oregon Baseball Pitcher Hits 98 On The Gun

Brock Moore touched 98 on the radar with his fastball during the inning. After allowing a run, Moore struck out Kevin Bazzell to end the inning.

Bottom Of Seventh: Texas Tech Baseball Back Up 3 Runs; 10-7

Austin Green once again came up big with an RBI single to give the Red Raiders another 3-run lead.

Bottom Of Seventh: Texas Tech Puts Two On, Oregon Goes To Bullpen

The Ducks are going to Brock Moore to get an out in the seventh with two Red Raiders on base. Ryan Featherston's day is done. TTU leads 9-7. 

Moore is a senior who made 11 starts for Menlo College, a junior college, last season. He had a 3.33 ERA in 2023. 

Top Of Seventh: Oregon Adds Run In High-Scoring Game vs. Texas Tech

Texas Tech leads Oregon 9-7, but the Ducks got a run back after allowing two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Carter Garate had an RBI single.  

Bottom Of Sixth: Michael Freund Struggles

After pitching scoreless baseball on Friday against Oklahoma, Michael Freund struggled on Sunday. Freund threw 22 pitches, allowed two runs before being pulled for Ryan Featherston.

Oregon got out of the inning. 

Bottom Of Sixth: Gavin Kash Extends Lead

Gavin Kash, one of the best returning hitters in college baseball, extended the TTU lead to 9-6 with an RBI single.  

Bottom Of Sixth: Tracer Lopez Homers For TTU

It's 8-6 after a homer to right field by Tracer Lopez.

Bottom Of Sixth: Michael Freund In For Oregon

Two days after securing the first save for Oregon, Michael Freund is in for his second appearance of the season. He pitched 1.2 innings on Friday against Oklahoma with two strikeouts. The Montana native is in his first season season with the Ducks

Texas Tech remains ahead, but Oregon makes it a 1-run game. 

Top Of Sixth: Justin Cassella HBP

Justin Cassella took a fastball to the chest and elbow before collapsing to the ground. He stayed in the game.

Top Of Sixth: Oregon Ducks Having Another Big Inning, TTU 7, Oregon 6

Drew Smith drove in two more runs on an RBI double. Smith now has four RBI in the game and Oregon trails TTU 7-6 with no outs in the fram. 

Bottom Of Fifth: Texas Tech Baseball, David Bravo Adds Run. TTU 7, Oregon 4

In Toby Twist's college baseball debut, the 6-foot-1 lefty from Bakersfield, Calif. pitched the Ducks back into the game after Oregon  went down 6-0. 

But after more than 70 pitches, David Bravo added another double and another RBI to extend TTU's lead. 

Twist has pitched 3.2 innings, allowing two hits, two runs and striking out six.

Oregon scored four runs and now trails Texas Tech by two runs. Josh Sanders struck out Ryan Cooney to end the inning.

Two runners are on and there's one out after Bennett Thompson singled to drive in the fourth run of the inning for Oregon. 

Jack Washburn's day is officially over. He finished his day by allowing six hits and three earned runs to go with his six strikeouts. 

Drek Bridges is also out after giving up two hits and a run. He is responsible for two runners. Josh Sanders in on the mound. 

Top Of Fifth: Jeffrey Heard Adds Another RBI For Oregon

Jeffrey Heard has had one of the best weekends of any player at Globe Life Field, and the Sacramento State transfer hit a single to right field to add another run. Oregon now trails Texas Tech 6-3

Top Of Fifth: Jack Washburn Out, Derek Bridges In For TTU

Jack Washburn's day is over after giving up two runs. He finishes the day after four innings and six strikeouts. The son of former MLB pitcher Jarrod Washburn, Jack is still responsible for Drew Smith.  

Bridges, a senior, made 11 appearances last season with a 7.71 ERA, but had ERAs of 3.97 and 3.27 in 2021 and 2022. He pitched early this weekend, striking out two.

The Ducks recorded back-to-back hits, including a Carter Garate double before leadoff hitter Drew Smith drove in two runs with a single.

Oregon trails Texas Tech 6-0, but the Red Raiders have not reached base since the Cade McGee walk in the second. Toby Twist has retired seven batters in a row with four strikeouts.

Oregon put two runners on, but Jack Washburn got out of the inning with a key strikeout. He now has six on the day.

After allowing a home run in the second, Toby Twist bounced back trailing 6-0. He struck out back-to-back batters to end the inning.

Jack Washburn walked one and allowed a hit, but managed to keep the Ducks from scoring in the frame. 

Second Inning Finally Over For Oregon Baseball

Texas tallied five hits and six runs in a big second inning. Oregon issued three walks and two wild pitches as the Red Raiders cycled through the order. Cade McGee walked twice in the inning.

Austin Green made the game 6-0 in the second inning with a three-run home run. It's the first homer of the season for Tech.

Texas Tech knocked Oregon starter Turner Spoljaric out of the game, scoring three runs. Toby Twist takes over for Oregon with one out.

David Bravo hit the Red Raiders third double of the weekend and drove in two as Tech takes a 2-0 lead and still had no outs in the inning.

In 2022, Washburn's best outing strikeout-wise came against Oregon as a member of Oregon State when he struck out four on March 13, 2022.

Oklahoma Baseball Rallies To Beat Nebraska

First pitch for Oregon-Texas Tech could be delayed after a thriller to begin the third day at the College Baseball Showdown. 

Oklahoma was down to its final out trailing 6-5 against Nebraska closer Casey Daiss when Michael Snyder hit an RBI double that scored John Spikerman and Jackson Willits hit a bases-loaded single as the Sooners walked-off Nebraska in a 7-6 win. 

For the Cornhuskers, it was another late-inning collapse against a former Big 12 rival after allowing three runs in the ninth in a 6-3 loss to Texas Tech on Feb 17.
