Layla Lamar, daughter of Duke Head Coach Marissa Young and James Lamar announced that she has verbally committed to the University of Florida.

2024 Infielder Layla Lamar, Second Sixth-Grader To Commit To Florida

Layla Lamar, daughter of Duke Head Coach Marissa Young and James Lamar announced that she has verbally committed to the University of Florida. The 2024 infielder is now the second sixth grader to commit to the Gators following the NCAA DI Council vote to move the prospect contact date to Sept. 1 of an athlete’s junior year (Effective April 25, 2018). Lamar joins the 2024 Gator recruiting class with Alexia Carasquillo


Born into a softball dynasty, Lamar is trained by her mother Duke Head Coach Marissa Young and grandfather and club softball legend Robert Young.
