Mark Campbell made a lasting impact on the sport of softball that is on display during the opening weekend of the college softball season.

A revered youth softball coach, Campbell was the co-owner of the OC Batbusters and coach of Pacifica High School. He helped produce some of the best travel softball teams in the sport. Campbell got into coaching to help his daughters in 1995. That spurred a quarter century of being a prominent figure in the sport.

A former police officer and detective in Southern California, Campbell went on to win championships on the travel and high school levels of the sport before he died in 2019.

The Mark Campbell Invitational in Irvine, Calif. is played in his honor and Campbell was remember before the  start of 2023 event.
