Sydney Supple from Oshkosh, Wisconsin is one of the top 2019 players in the country and last year committed to Northwestern when she was just 13 years old. The tall lefty, who is also a standout hitter, is a freshman at Oshkosh North High School and is playing on the Beverly Bandits-Conroy/Terrell 16U team that should be one of the best in the nation in its age division.

Sunday at the PGF Labor Day Showcase in Crown Point, Indiana saw the end of pool play and the beginning of the elimination games which will continue into Monday’s championship games. The Showcase includes teams in the 16U and 14U divisions,with each team having played a pair of games in pool play on Saturday and another two on Sunday prior to the seeding being done 1-16 in each age group. The elimination games began and there weren't many upsets--however, the main one was huge as the No. 1 seed at 14U, Bandits Premier, lost to the No. 16 seed Ohio Outlaws

Action kicked off Saturday at the PGF Labor Day Showcase in Crown Point, Ind. as teams in the 16U and 14U divisions each played a pair of games in pool play with squads representing most states in the Midwest and even coming from as far away as New Jersey . Sunday will see more pool play and the start of the elimination games.

Our nation’s holidays play host to some great softball events and tournaments. The July 4th holiday weekend has become known for great softball in Colorado (as well as fireworks and celebrating our nation’s independence, of course!) and the Labor Day holiday weekend may very well become another fun fastpitch weekend, especially in the Midwest.
